District Institute of Education and Training(DIET),Nalgonda is a nodal agency for providing academic and resource support at district and grass root levels for the success of various strategies and programmes under taken in the area of Elementary Education, the role of DIET is to uplift professional development of pre-service and in-service teacher education in the district by promoting leadership in innovating pre-service and in-service initiatives, in school education DIET, has a greater role to contribute development of quality learning material for Elementary Education, further it carries out field base empirical studies to improve preschool and Elementary schooling while providing support to district authorities in implementing quality elementary education in the erstwhile district consisting of Nalgonda, Suryapet and Yadadri Bhuvanagiri in coordinating with S.C.E.R.T which has been a state level nodal agency.

DIET, Nalgonda is one of the iconic institute of the district which has been catering its service for many decades in the area of school Education tirelessly. It started its educational service legacy since 1955 where it used call as Basic Training School(B.T.S) which was adopted from Gandhian Model of Basic Education, under B.T.S scheme it used to train up (E.G.B.T) teacher aspirants who finished multipurpose school, it continued up to 1960’s eventually Secondary Grade Training(S.G.T) was started for who got through the matriculation. Form 1975’s the nomenclature was changed as T.T.C the eligibility criteria to get training was intermediate. Present DIET came into existence in 1988 on the guide lines and re commendations of NPE 1986, since then it has been playing a vital role at District level to improve both pre-service and in-service programmes through various departments.
